Hell’s Kitchen Season 2 - Show 1 - Intro

This show is on right now, as I write this. Here’s an initial impression from 20 minutes of viewing. I’ll post more after the show ends.

From the begining clips of this two hour show, it appears there’ll be even more screaming and humiliation on behalf of pscyho British master chef Gordon Ramsay.

Ramsay seems to subscribe to the old French cooking school of thought that says that screaming and humiliation turns out a better chef. Sorry, Gordo. Didn’t you watch the beautiful film Like Water For Chocolate?

Ramsay also seems to have absolutely no taste for world cuisine. He doesn’t like any sort of sweet elements on main dishes. (Neither do I, but it’s common in many world cuisines.) He also can’t seem to take “heat” (spicy food), and yet he’s got the balls to have a restaurant called Hell’s Kitchen. Finally, he doesn’t seem to like garlic. Well, what do you expect from a British chef? (With the exception of Lenny Henry’s fictional Chef! character.)

I’m not sure when this second series was filmed, but there appear to be more contestants this time that have some sort of food-related job.
