Bitesize 21 - Kitchen Confidential TV Show
It’s been a few weeks since I saw it, so I’d almost forgotten about it. Kitchen Confidential is a TV show that’s on after the recent cult favourite Arrested Development.
If I’m not mistaken, the series is on Fox Network (I saw it on a Canadian network). And it’s actually rather interesting, if slightly tame. last night’s episode was about a small war between two restaurants, which starts when the French chef and owner of the rival restaurant steals a lamb dish and puts it on his menu. Nolita’s head waitress - and owner’s daughter - is a sizzling blonde who falls prey to the French chef’s silver tongue. And the war escalates from there.
This show is hard to describe; it reminds me a lot about the incredibly un-normal show Arrested Development, which challenges you to think, and doesn’t insult you in trying to make you laugh. Kitchen Confidential seems to be along similar lines. Somewhere in the depths of my memory, I also remember hearing something about the show being a slightly fictionalized account of New York bad boy Chef Anthony Bourdain’s time in the trenches before becoming famous. But it’s not reality tv, thank goodness.
